In December 2010 Ryedale District Council confirmed that an offer from Holbeck Land and a design proposal for the development of the 4.5 acre Wentworth Street Car Park had been successfully approved by the Council.
This agreement was secured after 3 rounds of bidding from a list of over 30 submissions through an initial shortlist of 9 to a final presentation from 5 bidders.
Ryedale DC advised that a key consideration was the design proposal prepared by London based Architects Panter Hudspith for a food store led scheme which scored highly in terms of connectivity to the immediate Town Centre and a template of materials complimentary to the local architecture.
